Michael McGuire was born in 1928, and grew up in Minneapolis, Mankato, and St. Cloud. He attended the University of Chicago and the University of Minnesota School of Architecture. After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, he lived for a time in New York. McGuire has been practicing architecture since 1960, and has been painting for much of his life. He lives on the St. Croix River in a house he designed, and his office and studio are in a 100-year-old grain elevator in Stillwater, Minnesota.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Michael.  He died August 4, 2024 after a brief illness at his home, which he designed in 1962 overlooking the St. Croix River in the Town of St. Joseph, Wis.  He was 95.
